01 Jan January worship at Richmond Uniting
After much reflecting, we have decided to pause online worship for the month of January. Below you will find resources for worshipping at home, including a simple liturgy. Face to face worship will continue throughout January and everyone is very welcome.
If you have been gathering with us online please be assured that stepping through the physical doors at Richmond Uniting you will be welcomed with authenticity and you will also be given space (i.e. you won’t be ‘pounced’ on for your life story).
While online Sunday worship is paused for January, online Midday Prayers will continue on Wednesdays via Zoom throughout January and beyond. If you would like to join in this restful, gentle half hour service, please email the RUC office for the Zoom address on Wednesday mornings: richmond.uniting@bigpond.com
Going forward in 2021, we will likely begin offering online worship content of some sort after January. If you are unable to join us in person (e.g. if you are living interstate or overseas), feel welcome to share your thoughts via email at richmond.uniting@bigpond.com about what kind of online worship would best support your journey of discipleship – and what has been most useful this year. These thoughts will contribute to our prayerful evaluation, reflection and planning going forward.
For those who cannot join us for face to face worship in January here are some resources for your own ongoing worship at home.
Simple Liturgy for Use at Home
Feel welcome to print out this inclusive, spacious liturgy written by Rev Dr Sally Douglas and use it on your own or with others. It is drawn from our Midday Prayer liturgy and is intended to be unhurried, with chunks of space for silence. You may like to light a candle as you begin. After the Psalm and Gospel reading you are invited to take five minutes for silent reflection. You may like to rest in this silence, or journal about the readings (perhaps a word or phrase that struck you), or make art or have conversation with God in this time. To explore different prayer styles that you may wish to engage with within the liturgy, please go to the Praying in Real life section of the website to explore various ways of praying (each prayer style includes a short video).
