Online worship resources for Sunday 7 March

We are gathering for face-to-face worship at Richmond Uniting on Sunday 7th March at 10am. Everyone is very welcome. For those who cannot join us in person, we are offering online resources for worship at home.

For now, the online audio consists of the biblical reading(s) and the reflection (sermon). You may like to spend time in silent prayer before – and after – listening to the audio. Or you may like to utilise the written liturgy. This simple, inclusive liturgy is created to be used in conjunction with the audio. It seeks to create the shape for worship and to give space for your own prayers and reflections.

Anger is an energy

This Sunday, the third Sunday in Lent, we explore the extraordinary account of Jesus in the temple overturning tables. Here Jesus is not meek or mild, instead, Jesus is angry, loud and disruptive. Rev Dr Sally Douglas invites us into the complexity of this reading and challenges us to get in touch with the importance of anger as followers of Jesus.

Wondering questions

  • How do you react to the idea of Jesus being angry? How do you imagine this account?
  • When you get angry what do you do with this anger? What have you been taught to do with anger?
  • Can you imagine bringing your anger to God and exploring how to creatively harness this force for good?
