Richmond Churches Food Centre

This short film was shot, scripted, edited and produced by Olwyn Jones, who volunteered her time and skills with extraordinary generosity.  We hope you enjoy watching.

The Richmond Churches Food Centre is an ecumenical, grass roots initiative that has been quietly getting on with providing food security for hundreds of people each week for some 30 years.

The Food Centre is co-ordinated by St Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, St Stephen’s Anglican Church, St Bartholomew’s Anglican Church and Richmond Uniting Church and is also supported by St George’s Uniting and St James Catholic parishes.  The Food Centre operates at the rear of St. Ignatius Church: 326 Church St Richmond, and is open for food distribution on Mondays and Fridays from 9.30am – 1.00pm

Our fabulous volunteers come from all works of life, including form each of the local churches, as well as the wider community.  The Food Centre is generously supported by the FareShare, Second Bite, Food Bank and the City of Yarra. Members of the congregations, various schools and members of the local community also donate food regularly.

At Richmond Churches Food Centre people receive enough food to prepare meals during the coming week, as well as a cuppa and a warm welcome,  regardless of their background, culture, beliefs or lifestyle.

If you interested in participating in meaningful volunteering, in donating food (cans, rice, pasta, are particularly welcome), or making a financial donation go to the Richmond Churches Food Centre go to the Food Centre website for more information: http://richmondchurches.weebly.com or  call the Food Centre mobile: 0413 660 260 Monday-Friday 9.00am – 4.00pm or call our minister Rev Dr Sally Douglas on 03 9427  1282.
